By Oromsis Adula As Election Day fast approaches, Ethiopians are under a cloud of fear and uncertainty. Reports show massive propaganda campaigns and endless mandatory meetings. Despite all the rhetoric of democracy, Ethiopia remains a country where a support for the opposition could mean imprisonment and/or a denial of foreign food aid.

While the Unity for Democracy and Justice (UDJ) political party celebrated the welcoming of Siye Abraha, the former defence minister and Negasso Gidada (PhD), former president into its fold, the life-long dissident, Mesfin Woldemariam (Prof.), who had been kicked out for disciplinary reasons, lurked around to make sure that they had a hard time.
